Today we connected our knowledge about dilations and similar figures to our previous knowledge about slope. A dilation creates similar figures. Similar figures have the same slope. The notes are below. Make sure you have 10-3 Homework done tonight! Today we continued talking about dilations. We learned that after a figure is dilated, the image and the original are similar meaning that they have the same shape but not the same size. We practiced figuring out what sequence of transformations could get us from one figure to its image. The notes are below, along with a couple of videos to help you review.
Today we learned about dilations, which is when we grow or shrink a figure. We call this enlargement and reduction. We dilate a figure by multiplying every side length by the same scale factor. Here are some videos to help you review!
Today we talked about similar triangles. Remember from Topic 10 that two figures are similar if they are the same shape but different sizes. We can use our knowledge of angles to prove that two triangles are similar. Triangles are similar IF they have two pairs of congruent angles. Sometimes we have to use our other angle knowledge to help us figure out if angles are congruent. Take a look at our notes in the slideshow below. Remember to catch up on topic 11 homework, including tonight's 11-5 homework. You have a vocabulary test on Friday, and the topic 11 test on Monday. |
