Topic 6 takes our linear equation skills to the next level! Instead of looking at ONE linear equation, now we have TWO LINEAR EQUATIONS!!! We call that a system of linear equations. Oh snap! We learned that the solution to a system of linear equations is an ordered pair. This ordered pair indicates the point where the lines made by these equations would intersect (cross). When we solve a system of equations, there are three things that can happen: Check the videos from below if you need some more review.

Today we started learning about systems of linear equations. A system of linear equations is two or more equations that have the same pair of variables and can be solved at the same time. All of topic 6 will involve working with systems of equations. Check out the notes below for a review. Tonight do 6-1 Homework online. Remember that you must show work for problems 3, 4, 11, 13, 14. See the notes for part 2 below for an example of what that work looks like. Our Topic 5 Test on Linear Equations is TOMORROW!!!! Students should get the Topic 5 Review Homework completed tonight, along with any missing homework from topic 5. Students should also redo any topic 5 assignment that earned less than a 70%. Use the videos and notes posted on this site to help you study!
Today we worked on representing linear relationships in different formats. We can change a word problem (verbal description) into an equation, which we turned in to a table of values, a set of ordered pairs, and a graph. We also practiced interpreting the meaning of the slope and y-intercept. Work on HW 5-7 and the Topic 5 Review HW.
TEST is on FRIDAY! Today we reviewed all of Topic 4 (Scientific Notation) to help us study for our TEST TOMORROW!!!!
Next Thursday is the end of the quarter. You should get caught up on alllllllll of your missing homework from 1st quarter! You can also redo assignments that you got low scores on the first time you did them. Doing these assignments will help you study for our tests this week. Tuesday- Topic 4 TEST Thursday - Unit B TEST (covers Topic 2, Topic 3, and Topic 4) and your Study Plan is due (Additional Practice for Unit B). Your study plan includes the journal pages and the online Practice assignment that go with the intervention lessons you were assigned after the last Readiness assessment. If you need a good review of exponent properties and scientific notation, check out the lesson videos on BrainGenie. These videos review all the concepts we learned it Topics 3 and 4! |
